The HoD and a number of members of staff worked tirelessly to beat the Performance contract deadline. Records were to be loaded online. it was a vigorous exercise but worth taking in this season of COVID-19 restrictions.
A great number of BVM students sat for their first online examinations. Two exams were done in a day. One theory and another practicals. It was an exiting technological experience despite few challenges but one that proves it is possible.
The departmental members of staff have been carrying out skin/eye irritation research tests on mouse, rabbits and guinea pigs under COVID -19 safety regulations. Tests are done to determine toxicity levels in certain products. Above is Dr. Wanbugu dehairing a mouse before applying the irritation test.
Prof. Makanya (HoD) supervise the clearance of junk materials in the department. This is a process that has long been awaited to happen for years. Finally it has happened in his tenure place creating precious room for better facilities.
DVAP members of staff keep busy assembling skeletons as part of Income generating projects. Above left is a skeleton of a goat, middle a pig and right is a donkey. All these at their final stages of polishing.
HoD Prof Makanya held an online meeting with the Academic members of staff to
deliberate on the E-learning and online examinations and to asses the progress.
Dr Albert Nyongesa conducts his online classes. The BSc. Wildlife first year class attended the class online from their homes on the topic "Thermoregulation and Adaptation to Environment "(JWL123: Ecophysiology) in keeping with the governments requirement to work from home to curb the spread of COVID -19 pandemic.
