On the 14th of March, 2025, Prof. Elizabeth Archie (Notre Dame University) paid a courtesy call to Dr. Catherine Kaluwa, Chair of the Dept. of Vet Anatomy and Animal Physiology. Prof. Archie is a Co-director of the Amboseli Baboon Research Project (ABRP). She was accompanied by Prof. Charles Kimwele (Dept. of Vet Anatomy and Animal Physiology) who serves as the University of Nairobi ABRP Project Coordinator, and Dr. Tim Wango who is the ABRP Liaison Officer and Lab Manager. ABRP is a long-term research project that started in 1971 in Amboseli basin, Kajiado, Kenya. The overall goal for the project is to understand yellow baboon (Papio cynocephalus) ecology and evolution by studying their behaviour, physiology, genetics, and population dynamics. The team discussed ABRP’s engagements with the aim of fostering stronger research collaborations between the local and international partners, and more specifically role of the University of Nairobi in this collaborative research program.
