Dr. Dominic Ochwangi attends The Research-to-Policy Communications Workshop at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. It is part of a two-year project titled Evidence
Leaders in Africa Project. The project is aimed at expanding leadership for use of evidence in policy
formulation and implementation by African governments in East and West Africa.
The purpose of the Research-to-Policy Communications workshop is for researchers to develop
hands-on skills and capacities in promoting the uptake of evidence in decision-making processes by
effectively engaging policymakers with evidence, and in summarizing and presenting evidence in
easy-to-use formats. The training curriculum will cover a variety of strategically selected focus topics
informed by the needs of training participants including:
• The foundation of policy-making
• Research communication strategies
• Effective policy presentations
• Writing policy briefs
• Visualising your research
• Media engagement
• Monitoring and evaluating research communication efforts
