Functional and Developmental Structure of the Ostrich Cam.

Overview
Overview

The ostrich is the largest extant bird and also happens to have the largest egg. The
chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) has previously and severally been used as a
model to study angiogenesis as well as cancer pathogenesis and metastasis. The
ostrich CAM offers immense surface area for such studies. However, very little is known
regarding ostrich CAM culture and growth. This project aims to develop modalities for
windowed and shell-free ostrich CAM culture and elucidate the dynamics of ostrich
CAM growth and development.
